What is Nuetech PROLINX and How is it Different from Regular Nitro Mousse?
Nuetech PROLINX is a flat-proof mousse that comes as four separate foam sections instead of one solid ring. You cut one section, called the tuning link, to set how soft or firm the tire feels, and Nuetech says the range runs from about 6 PSI to 16 PSI of feel. Regular Nitro Mousse comes in fixed feels (Platinum at 10 to 12 PSI and Plushie at 6 to 8 PSI), while PROLINX lets you set the feel at install.
Quick Answer
- What It Is: A four section, nitrogen energized mousse insert from Nuetech, the company behind Nitro Mousse and TUbliss.
- How You Tune It: Install three full sections, then cut the fourth to the length in the supplied TUNING LINX guide.
- Feel Range: About 6 PSI (super soft) to 16 PSI (extra firm). This describes feel only. There is no air in the system.
- The Wedge: The piece left over after you cut the tuning link is saved and used later to restuff the tire as the mousse wears.
- Sizes: Five sets, picked by tire size and rim width, not by bike.
- Price at Slavens: $133.95 (regular $147.95).
How PROLINX Works
Nuetech calls the design Progressive Density Technology. Each PROLINX section starts out straight with the same density all the way through. When the sections are fit into the tire, Nuetech says the microcells get squeezed together around the rim and spread out around the crown.
The result, according to Nuetech:
- At the Rim and Sidewalls: Firmer, for cornering stability, side-hilling and rim protection.
- At the Crown: Softer, for traction, bump absorption and a plusher ride.
The Tuning Link
Nuetech lays out the install in three steps:
- Step 1: Cut one of the sections to length using the supplied TUNING LINK guide to get the feel you want.
- Step 2: Put it in the tire with the three full sections.
- Step 3: Finish the install like a normal mousse.
Nuetech says adding foam volume raises the PSI feel, so a longer tuning link feels firmer and a shorter one feels softer. Use the guide in the box for the actual cut lengths. Trail Rider Magazine’s November 2026 review notes that the sections are marked at 1 inch intervals, which makes measuring easier, and that the rim lock should sit in the middle of a full section.
For the basic mounting technique, see How to Install a Mousse.
PROLINX vs Regular Nitro Mousse
Both are flat-proof Nuetech mousses made from nitrogen energized foam. The differences are in how they’re built and how you set the feel.
- Construction: Regular Nitro Mousse is one solid ring. PROLINX is four straight sections.
- Feel: Regular Nitro Mousse comes in Platinum (10 to 12 PSI feel) or Plushie (6 to 8 PSI feel). You pick one when you buy it. PROLINX covers about 6 to 16 PSI depending on how you cut the tuning link.
- Adding Feel Later: Regular Nitro Mousse takes a separate NitroWedge ($17.95). PROLINX comes with its own wedge, the leftover piece of the tuning link.
- Weight: Nuetech says PROLINX is one of the lightest mousses on the market. Nuetech hasn’t published a weight number for it.
- Price at Slavens: Platinum Nitro Mousse is listed at $133.95 (regular $147.95), the same as PROLINX.

PROLINX vs Michelin Bib Mousse and TUbliss
- Michelin Bib Mousse: Another flat-proof foam mousse, one piece, with a fixed feel. Slavens lists the Bib Mousse at $183.95 to $199.95 depending on size. See the Michelin M15 Bib Mousse install for how that one goes in.
- TUbliss: Not a mousse. It’s Nuetech’s tubeless core system that runs on air. Nuetech’s own advice: if being flat-proof is your top priority, go mousse. If you want the most adjustability and performance and can live with the chance of a flat, go TUbliss. Some riders run a mousse up front and TUbliss in the rear. Slavens lists TUbliss Gen 2.0 at $93.95.

What’s in the Box
- Inserts: 4 PROLINX sections in your tire size.
- Lube: NitroLube cooling gel. The product page lists an improved lube in a larger tube.
- Instructions: Install instructions with the TUNING LINX guide.
PROLINX Sizes and Fitment
PROLINX is sized by tire, not by bike. The five sets are:
- PROLX-220: 80/100-21
- PROLX-235: 90/100-21
- PROLX-285: 110/100-18
- PROLX-305: 120/100-18
- PROLX-325: 140/80-18
Before you order, check the PROLINX sizing chart. It lists tire brand, model and size against rim width (1.6, 1.85 or 2.15) and gives the matching set. Some tires are marked “NO PROLINX MATCH,” including the 90/100-21 220 Ride and the 110/90-19 and 120/90-19 sizes, so a 19 inch rear isn’t covered right now. Nuetech’s FAQ points out that rim width is usually stamped on the rim, but not always.
Price and Availability
The Nuetech Nitro Mousse PROLINX is available now at Slavens Racing for $133.95 (regular $147.95). Pick your set by tire size on the product page.
When the mousse starts to feel soft with hours on it, the saved wedge is how you bring it back. See Restuffing a Worn PROLINX with the Wedge.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is PROLINX a bead lock?
No. PROLINX is a mousse insert. Nuetech’s bead lock is the Prolock 360, which is a separate product.
Does the 6 to 16 PSI range mean I put air in it?
No. Nuetech uses PSI to describe how the tire feels compared to a tube. PROLINX is airless, and you change the feel by changing the tuning link length.
Do I need to cut anything?
Yes. You cut one of the four sections to the length in the TUNING LINX guide. The other three go in full length.
Which PROLINX fits my bike?
It depends on your tire, not your bike. Find your tire brand, model, size and rim width on the sizing chart. If it says “NO PROLINX MATCH,” there isn’t a PROLINX set for that tire yet.
What lube should I use?
Use the NitroLube cooling gel in the box. Nuetech says to use only NitroLube or a rubber-safe silicone gel, and never a soap based mounting paste, which it says will shorten the life of the mousse.
Should I still run a rim lock?
Yes. Nuetech recommends always running a rim lock with a Nitro, and Trail Rider Magazine’s review says to keep the rim lock in the middle of a full section.
How long will it last?
Nuetech doesn’t give a number, since it depends on the rider, tire and terrain. It does say PROLINX is long lasting, and the saved wedge lets you restuff the tire as it wears.
