Which Tire Changer is Right for you?
There are plenty of dirt bike tire changing stands available – from basic to decked out. Find out which option is the best for you.
Top of the Line
There are two top of the line tire changing systems loaded with all the bells and whistles: The Rabaconda Gen 4 Tire and Mousse Changer and the Mousse Tire Changer by Moose Racing.
Rabaconda Gen 4 Tire and Mousse Changer
The Rabaconda system has been in development since 1995, specifically to give the 1996 Finnish ISDE team an advantage when changing tires. Continued development has lead to the most versatile motorcycle tire changer system and a sub-3 minute tire change time.
Here are some of the features of the Rabaconda Gen 4 Tire and Mousse Changer:
- Tire can be removed completely by pushing it down with the bead breaker
- Strong Cordura 1000D carry-bag for comfortable and compact storage
- Quick-release bolts for fast switching between wheel sizes
- Guiding link for leading the bead breaker into the right position
- Oval profile bar with good grip
- Suitable for wheel sizes 17-21 inches
- Carry-bag dimensions: 27.5x11x10 in (70x28x25 cm)
- Materials: galvanized and powder coated steel, anodized T6061-T6 aluminium
- Working level (wheel height): 20 inches (50 cm)
- Weight: 35 lbs (16 kg)
- Hub bearings diameter: 20-28 mm
Mousse Tire Changer by Moose Racing
The Moose Racing Mousse Tire Changer is a more recent product to market developed specifically for changing mousses, but it works for standard tubes as well. This tire changer easily assembles within minutes – and without tools.
The main frame is made of carbon steel with a silver zinc finish and the bead breaker handle is powder-coated gloss black.
Similar to the Rabaconda system, it comes with a carrying bag and allows you to change tires on rim sizes from 18 – 21 inches.
With the bead breaker system, you can quickly remove tires completely from the rim once a portion of the bead has been removed.
Budget Friendly
If you are looking for motorcycle tire changing stands with bead breakers that are easier on the wallet, Slavens Racing carries two quality options: The Tire Change Stand with Bead Breaker by BikeMaster ($88.79) and the Tire Changer with Bead Breaker by Unit ($83.70).
Tire Change Stand with Bear Breaker by BikeMaster
This steel tire change stand is durable, but light weight enough to take to the track with you.
It is designed to work on most wheels from 16-21 inches and makes breaking beads a snap.
It only takes a couple of uses with this tire changer to pay for itself compared to having a shop do it.
Tire Changer with Bead Breaker by Unit
Similar to the tire changer by BikeMaster, the Unit tire changer is made of steel, equipped with a bead breaker, and will pay for itself with only a few uses.
It is designed to work on most wheels up to 21 inches and utilizes a 16mm shaft.
The bead breaker allows you to fit in enough tire irons to quickly change stubborn tires.
